The Afterlife of Lizzie Monroe by Kelly Martin

We welcome Kelly Martin to the Blog today to talk about her new book, Lizzie Monroe. Welcome, Kelly!

I'm so excited to be here talking about my new book and to answer three reader questions. I recently asked on Facebook for any questions my readers had for me. I've been answering some of them on my tour. I have to have it to my readers. They asked really great questions!  Here we go!!

Three Questions with Kelly Martin

1.       How do you prioritize your WIPs (Works in Progress)?

I’m basically a one manuscript at a time writer. I do occasionally break away and write something new, but I normally only have one thing going on at a time. That said, I do have several I haven’t finished that I need to work on lol. If I stop, I have a hard time getting back to writing it.

2.       What is the scariest thing about writing?

Writing is the easy part. Publishing it is the hard part. You can love a book, but you never know how readers are going to feel. Great reviews are awesome! Bad reviews make you question why you ever decided to write in the first place for a few stinging minutes. THEN you go back and read the review and figure out what you might have done differently. You learn from it, but yeah. That’s a scary part of writing.

3.       “I’ve heard authors say that they work on more than one book at a time, if they get stuck on one book they will work on the other one for a while. Are you able to do this or do you stick with one book until it’s done?”

Like I said before, if I stop writing a book, it’s hard for me to get back into it. So I try really hard to just say on one book. That said, I do get side tracked. I do start books sometimes before the one I’m working on is finished. It’s hard for me, though. I’d rather write straight from Chapter One to ‘the end’.
