She has to learn to adapt quickly to human customs, because Will is headed for the court of Henry VIII, to serve as the king’s fool. It’s a glittering, dangerous world, where a careless word can lead to the scaffold and the smallest of gestures is loaded with political implications. Anne Boleyn is charmed by Emma’s naïveté and soothing selkie magic and wants Emma for her own fool. Can Will protect his newfound love from the dangers that lurk in every shadow? Circa regna tonat: around the throne, the thunder rolls.

Heather's Review
Set in England during the reign of Henry VIII, this interesting book aims for historical accuracy while interweaving elements of fantasy and romance.  The main character, Will Somers, is jester on his way to Court when he comes across a beautiful Selkie, a fae-folk of the sea, while in human form. Together, they take the Court by storm, befriending the King, other members of the royal family, courtesans and important political figures from the period that fill our history books. An enjoyable, well-written read full of fun facts and interesting details. 3.5 'staches
