Tormented by Lorenz Font-Review/Author Interview/Giveaway

Synopsis:

Tor Burns is a non-infected vampire who has taken refuge in the Tack Enterprises underground facility. Having survived a vicious attack with his fellow vampire Harrow, he now has a new purpose. Vampires afflicted with Gates Syndrome are still being hunted, and Tor is committed to saving them from the clutches of the Vampire Council. With a semi-cure within their grasp, Tor is reluctant to accept his new assignment: bodyguard to Allison Tack, the daughter of their fallen leader. Armed with an abrasive personality and fierce loyalty, Tor approaches this new responsibility with serious determination despite his reservations.

Vampire Allison Tack is the beautiful and timid co-heir of the Tack fortune. Infected and hunted by the Council, those lucky enough to have known her father are determined to keep her safe.  A walking target wherever she goes, Allison wants to learn how to protect herself, but no one is listening. Sick of being the helpless one in the company of trained fighters around her, Allison vows to prove that she can fight alongside the best of them.

Meanwhile, the harem leader, Melissa, is hell-bent on unraveling any clue about her son Demetrius’s fate. He disappeared without a word, and time has made her desperate. Stepping up her efforts, she seeks the help of Demetrius’s son, Zane. With the additional manpower, Melissa finds the lair of the suspected vampires and wages war against them.

Thrown together by necessity, Tor and Allison can’t continue to deny their attraction to each other. Tor wants to give in to his feelings for her, but old demons resurface. He must confront the past to prevent losing the best thing that ever happened to him.

A life must be given for a life taken. Will Tor have to sacrifice himself before Allison pays the price?

My Review:

Intense. That is the first word that come to mind when I think about Tormented. This book was intense. There were times when I was reading as fast as I could to see what would happen next. Other times I was trying to slow things down. I was glad to be back in the world of Tack Enterprises and the family. This book picks up a year after the first book ended. We meet some new people and get to know Goran, the evil vampire, more. This book has so much action and suspense, it was hard to keep up. I want to know more about these characters, and I certainly hope that there is another book in the works. The love story between Allison and Tor is one for the ages. In the face of adversity, they continue to help each other, to the end. If you like vampire books, this one is for you! 4.5 out of 5!

I had the opportunity to interview Lorenz. Here is what she has to say about writing, life, and food!

Please tell us about your journey into writing and publishing.
Wow. I have to say that everything happened so fast. I started writing fan fiction less than three years ago. A year after I began writing, I started developing ideas for original stories. Hunted is my first completed novel followed by Indivisible Line. Both novels found their home with Renaissance Romance Publishing.

You have written a couple of different “types” of books. What is your favorite genre to write?
I love a good romance. I find it refreshing. To quote a popular adage: Love makes the world go round. To me, spinning a good romance is not all about rainbows and butterflies. I want to keep it real. I don’t believe in love being uncomplicated. There are many intricacies in putting two different people in a relationship. We have background, beliefs, ideals and quirks to hash out, and those are areas that can complicate any given relationship.

If this series was to become a movie, who would you cast as the main characters?
Okay here’s the deal with putting real life actors in my readers head. My intention is for them to have their own image of the characters in their heads. In fact, in one party I hosted with friends, we got into a long debate on which actor should play a certain role. Most of them agree with my idea of Harrow. I think Ryan Gosling is perfect for the role. I’m talking about age, build and physical descriptions. There are characters where I don’t give a full depiction and my aim is to engage the readers to come up with their own ideas. I give enough information to start with, but the rest is up to them. Tor is going to be tough one to pick because I wrote him to be a big man and no one comes to mind. I’m still on the fence with that one. The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson is my idea of what Rohnert should look like. Although when I wrote the first book, I did not picture any particular person in my head. The females will be a challenge. I don’t have any specific face in mind.

Tell us something unique about you (that can’t be found in your author bio).
I read novels while I write.

Who is your fictional character crush (Movie, TV, Literary)?
Edward Cullen- Twilight Saga, Wrath- Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Harrow, Tor and Rohnert. The last three are characters you already came across t in Hunted.

How do you connect with readers? Do you really like it when they contact you?
I prefer personal interaction. I make it a point to respond to their messages or chat. I love it when someone stops by on FB or Twitter to say hello.

How did you choose the cover of your book?
Easy—I thought of the integral aspects in the story without giving much information away. And I have my friend, graphic artist, Claudia Trapp to pre-read the stories. After I gave her a few of my preferences, I let her run with the concept.

Writing and editing can sometimes be exhausting. How do you relax?
I don’t have time to relax nowadays given the back-to-back release of Tormented and Feather Light. But if I can have a moment of peace, I enjoy a quiet time with Hubs over a glass of wine.

If you could offer one piece of advice to a prospective author, what would it be?
Keep writing. Surround yourself with positive thinkers. It’ll help in the long run.

Do you have any future projects in the works?
Feather Light is releasing a few weeks from now, October 10 to be exact. It is being published by The Writer’s Coffee Shop Publishing. I have Ascension- the third installment of The Gates Legacy slated for release on May 2014. There is another novel in the works. I will be talking more about it once the details are finalized.
